Here is a little taste of the amazing raw recipes available in Valorie’s All Raw Recipe book
This all raw summer smoothie tastes very creamy and delicious. You will be convinced that you are cheating when you taste this drink.
VALORIE’S ALMOND SHAKE
Non-Dairy
Tastes like Ice Cream if frozen bananas are used
1/2 cup Almonds (1 cup soaked) 1 1/3 cups distilled Water
1-2 Tbs. raw Honey*and/or Bee Pollen (optional) 8 Ice Cubes
1 to 2 tsps. Vanilla 2 ripe frozen or fresh Bananas
1/2 tsp. fresh grated Nutmeg or Cinnamon broken into chunks
Pinch of Sea Salt (optional) 2 raw organic Eggs (optional)
Soak almonds overnight in distilled water. (Almonds double in size when soaked so you will have 1 cup of soaked almonds.) Put the almonds in the blender with 1 1/3 cups of water and blend for 1 minute. Turn blender off and add all other ingredients except the ice if using frozen bananas. Once the frozen bananas are broken up by the blender, turn the blender off and add the ice. Put the lid on the blender, turn it on and blend for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes if all is swirling well. Frozen bananas make a thicker, colder drink. If some ingredients are just sitting on the top, turn the blender off, add a little more water, stir, put the lid on and turn blender on again. Repeat if necessary until all is swirling. Leave blender on for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes to ensure a smooth consistency. Taste and adjust fresh grated Nutmeg and honey to taste. Makes 2 large servings or 3 medium servings. Variation: Substitute the Nutmeg with cinnamon or 1 rounded Tablespoon of Toasted Carob powder for a chocolate like shake.
Tip: It’s good to have a blender with a very strong motor. If you are using a less powerful blender, I suggest that after you peel your organic bananas, you cut them in small 1/2 inch chunks before freezing. These small frozen chunks will be easier on your blender blades. You can even let the frozen banana chunks sit in the almonds and water for several minutes so they thaw a bit and don’t break your blender blades. I’ve never had blades break but your blender will love you for taking these simple steps.
Serve immediately, drink and enjoy! Best if consumed right away.
Note: Always use as many organic ingredients as possible. If you are on an all raw foods program to handle a health crisis, organic is a must!
* You may want to try the recipe without any sweetener and see what you think. I love it with and without the honey or maple syrup. If I want something sweet more like a desert or ice cream, I add the honey as a special treat. Otherwise, I leave it out.

Enjoy!
